Marty’s Checkered Shirt

by bluxed on June 23, 2008

The shirt was custom made by Shah Safari specially for Michael J. Fox for the film. A friend of mine was able to make a fabric pattern of the shirt and contacted Shah Safari about a large custom order of the exact shirt from the movie.

Marty McFly Shah Safari Checkered Shirt

Checkerd Shirt Pattern

A Back to the Future Prop Building member contacted Shah Safari and they replied with:

Hello MichaelThanks for your interest and privileged to do this. Yes we could do this as a special cutting for the white checked shirt. I would need about 450pcs minimum( I am going way below our minimum needsAs a special case) and cost would be $24/pc and leadtime to produce these would be 4 months.Let me know how I could assist in your endeavor.

Although the pattern seems pretty accurate, I think those semi circular smudges on the lines should not exist. I have updated a thread about this topic on the BTTF Boards, I hope more fans will respond to you.

You’re right. I updated the image to a more accurate fabric pattern.

Note: The fabric pattern will be what Shah Safari already has and not what we are supplying to them. The fabric pattern is for anyone who wants to take it to a tailor to try to get a custom shirt on their own.

Great, that’s what I was hoping for :). Thanks for clearing that up.

I would buy at least 2 of them.
Any word on sizing?
I have tried contacting them many times, but haven’t had any luck.
I’m glad that you have though!
THanks!

Put me down for one please, are you just going to sell them through paypal? I’ll have one! (And one of anything else you might do along the way)(no, seriously)

Best
Chris

I am little worried as to how this deal is going to move forward, bluxed do have any idea as to how much money Shah Safari is asking before the shirts go into production? I mean is it the full amount upfront? Then at $24 a piece, for 450 pieces someone has to shell out $10,800 right at the start. This is a risky venture, I mean if it’s 100 pieces there is a chance of them getting sold out, but for 450 I am not so sure. Do check out with your friend Michael and let us know the pre order process.

Also how many of each size are they planning to manufacture? Hopefully there will be a little percentage of each size among the whole lot. (S, M, L, XL, XXL)

I’m in for 1 at a size Large. Been looking for a long time for a shirt even similar! This is the best.
