Here is a copy of the email.
Thank you for contacting Marciano.com. I have contacted our production team at corporate and they have informed me that this style is no longer able to be produced, even in extremely large quantities. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

I contacted Guess directly. I sent them a photo of the Guess jacket worn in the film.
They keep an inventory of every piece produced. After about a three-week search, the nice lady at Guess confirmed that as far as Guess was concerned, they never produced that precise model of jacket. They did similar ones, but not that one.
I’ve seen a lot of posts by fans assuring us it was a real jacket, and lots of ‘near-miss’ Ebay stories about the jacket that got away.
I have NEVER seen a photo of someone who owns or has owned that precise make and model of jacket.
This, in addition to Guess’ confirmation, leads me to believe it simply does not exist in the ‘real’ world.
I’m happy to be corrected by a photo of someone who actually has one.
I remember quite vividly trying to get this jacket. I am convinced today just as much as I was in 1985 that the jacket wasn’t commercially produced.
I only saw the jacket outside of the films once, and that was worn by Mackenzie Astin on The Facts of Life in 1985. 1985 was the last year that Facts of Life was shot on the Universal City Studios in Hollywood. 10 to 1 Mackenzie raided the wardrobe department and pulled the jacket after seeing it worn in BTTF.
There’s only one real way to find out the real answer on the jacket. You’d have to ask Deborah L. Scott, the costume designer for Back to the Future. If it wasn’t commercially produced then she made the jacket, and she can confirm it.
I had a friend who swore if you looked at the back of the jacked in the original film during the ride on the back of the Jeep you could make out the remnants of a Quicksilver logo. I think it’s a coincidence, and the only way to get this jacket is to have one made.
The Jacket DID exist….I know, because I had one. I bought it at a Guess Outlet in Southern Cal?? around the summer of ’85. And no, mine are NOT the reverse colors as so many ppl claim to have…those were actually sold at Macy’s and the collars were rounded. I remember b/c everyone had one, I wanted something different, so when I saw this I thought, ahhhh, perfect. My Guess jacket had the square collars as Marty’s did, but was not nearly as faded as his was in the movie since I bought mine new. I think I remember paying around $95??? I know b/c my parents thought it was pretty pricey for a denim jacket.
I no longer have it, but I DO have a picture of me wearing it from 1985…let me know if you’d like me to post it. Although, you can’t make fun of my pic, I was 15 at the time!
Thanks,
Matt
I just uploaded the pic to my photobucket…hopefully this works & should dispell any rumors that the jacket was actually produced, but probably in limited quantities….
here is another pic from 1986 at a school dance I attended, this is another Guess denim jacket I had, only this one had leather & from what I remember was around $165.
