Saturday night my wife and I (I dressed in my Marty McFly costume) went and saw Crispin Glover’s show which included a slide show of reading of 8 of his books included Concrete Inspection which i purchased in the lobby afterward. The slide show was definitely my favorite part of the show.
Afterwords he showed the movie “What Is It?”. Most of the actors and actresses in the film had down syndrome but played characters that did not necessarily had down syndrome. It was strange and very interesting and some of the scenes are made to make the audience feel awkward. Crispin has no plans as of yet to distributing the film in any way because he feels the Q&A after the film is very important.
Crispin Glover did a long Q&A about the film, the industry, and about him. I wanted to ask questions about Back to the Future but felt it would not be appropriate at the time because it seemed like it would be off topic.
This was filmed July 28, 1987. I have no clue why he is wearing a wig or wearing black platform shoes that look to small to fit him. Keep in mind this is the late 80s not the early 70s
Crazy but I still can’t wait to see him in Atlanta at the end of the month.
I purchased 2 tickets to Crispin Glover’s show in Atlanta, which is the closest location to South Florida on his tour schedule. I of course will be in my Marty McFly costume. After his show he does a Q&A and a book signing and will sign autographs even if you do not buy his book. From what i heard Crispin Glover is a genuinely nice and open guy.
Description of Crispin Glover’s Show
The evening starts with Crispin Hellion Glover’s Big Slide Show, an hour-long dramatic presentation in which the actor narrates images from eight of his illustrated story books. The feature film WHAT IS IT. screens next, followed by a Q&A; answer period moderated by Crispin Glover himself, who will then sign books (for sale in the lobby) after the Q&A session.
WHAT IS IT
Known for creating many memorable, incredibly quirky characters onscreen as an actor, Glover’s first effort as a director will not disappoint fans of his offbeat sensibilities and eccentric taste. Featuring a cast largely comprised of actors with Down’s Syndrome, the film is not about Down’s Syndrome. Glover describes it as “Being the adventures of a young man whose principal interests are snails, salt, a pipe and how to get home as tormented by an hubristic racist inner psyche.” In addition to writing and directing WHAT IS IT?, Glover also appears in the film as an actor in the role of “Dueling Demi-God Auteur and The young man’s inner psyche.” Actress Fairuza Balk voices one of the snails.
